The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has completed the inspection of accommodation and catering facilities in Madinah as part of its early preparations for the 2026 Hajj operations.
According to a statement by Ahmad Muazu, Technical Assistant on Media to the NAHCON Chairman, the inspection, which took place from November 3 to 5, was led by Prof. Abubakar Yagawal, Commissioner in charge of Planning, Research, Statistics, Information, and Library Services. The team, which included representatives from the Vice President’s office, state pilgrims’ boards, and NAHCON officials, visited over 20 hotels and seven catering facilities within the markaziyya area.
Muazu noted that the inspected facilities largely complied with NAHCON’s accommodation and feeding standards, particularly regarding safety and hygiene. NAHCON Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Usman, emphasized that every inspection must reflect integrity, transparency, and the priority of ensuring the welfare and comfort of Nigerian pilgrims.
He reiterated the commission’s determination to strengthen its regulatory oversight and ensure service providers deliver value for every payment made by pilgrims. The inspection team is expected to submit a comprehensive report for review and further policy action.
