A bomb exploded during evening prayers at a mosque in Gamborun Market, Maiduguri, on Wednesday, killing several worshippers and injuring many others. The attack occurred at 6:15 p.m. when a suspected suicide bomber struck while Muslim faithful were observing congregational prayers.
DSP Nahum Daso, the police spokesman for the Borno Police Command, confirmed the incident, stating that the explosion was caused by a suicide bomber. The injured victims were immediately evacuated to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
Security agencies, including the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, have been deployed to the scene to secure the area and investigate the attack. The area has been cordoned off, and a joint team of security agencies is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible.
