Abia State Governor Alex Otti has announced plans to establish a “Mini-Hollywood” entertainment village in Aba and an arts and culture gallery in Umuahia to boost the state’s creative economy.
The announcement was made during a celebration of veteran musician Sir Bright Chimezie’s 65th birthday at the Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia.
Otti described the projects as platforms to nurture talents in arts, music, and culture, and encouraged creative professionals to tap into opportunities from the initiatives.
He hailed Chimezie as a cultural icon who has promoted Igbo language and heritage, and reaffirmed his administration’s focus on creativity, entrepreneurship, and job creation.
The governor also cautioned against celebrating ill-gotten wealth, saying “If you made your money through stealing, drug peddling, or 419, I will not celebrate you.”
Chimezie thanked the governor for the honour, assuring that the entertainment community would support his vision beyond 2027.
