The Kaduna State Government has refuted allegations of contract racketeering and administrative misconduct in the planned reconstruction of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium.

Speaking on Sunday, Commissioner for Sports Development, Prof. Benjamin Kumai Gugong, described the claims as false and intended to mislead the public. He explained that the federal government handed the stadium over to the state earlier in 2025 in a poor state, prompting the ministry to seek Governor Uba Sani’s approval for a full upgrade to meet FIFA, CAF, and NFF standards.

Gugong stressed that the procurement process, approved in May 2025, complied with Kaduna State Public Procurement Authority (KADPPA) laws and was fully handled by the ministry. He said the upgrade would position Kaduna as a prime sports hub, capable of hosting international events, creating jobs, and boosting the local economy.
