Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has declared the creation of Anioma State a near-certain reality, assuring All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and stakeholders that the process is on track. Speaking on Saturday at his country home in Aniocha Local Government Area, Nwoko revealed that 75 senators support the initiative, with key legislative steps already completed.

“The creation of Anioma State is effectively a done deal,” Nwoko stated, citing backing from APC National Chairman Alhaji Umar Ganduje, who echoed the sentiment at a recent stakeholders’ meeting in Agbor. Nwoko noted that a technical committee will soon be inaugurated in Asaba to advance the process, with a public hearing scheduled in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, before the bill returns to the Senate for its third reading.

APC chieftain Chief Emma Ejiofor urged unity among stakeholders, warning that any Delta State House of Assembly member from the district opposing the state’s creation risks recall by constituents. Former House of Representatives member Hon. Nicholas Ossai emphasized the benefits of the new state, including additional local government areas, calling for widespread support.

Former Delta State House of Assembly Speaker Hon. Victor Ochei stressed the need for reconciliation within the APC to ensure unity ahead of the 2027 elections. “We must unite the party, particularly in Delta North,” Ochei said, advocating for collective efforts to achieve the state’s creation.
